Overview
A safety valve is the last line of defence against overpressure in a Feldbinder silo trailer. Fitted on the silo vessel and in the compressor circuit, it opens at the set pressure and vents excess air, protecting the tank, fittings, and personnel. On the horizontal, non-tipping EUT series it safeguards the vessel during aeration and pneumatic discharge; on the tipping KIP (Kippsilo) series — where the tank is raised hydraulically and discharge is pressure-driven — the correct set pressure and valve condition are prerequisites for safe operation of the entire circuit.
From a Feldbinder service perspective, the critical factors are: matching the set pressure and thread to the individual unit, temperature rating (Herose versions to 150°C and to 200°C), and complete documentation — a quality inspection certificate is required for the TDT inspection of the silo trailer. Both types are designed for mounting on the silo vessel and on the compressor, supplied without a protective flange. The correct set pressure for a given Feldbinder silo trailer is selected from the above range against the individual unit’s documentation.
Compatibility with Feldbinder Silo Trailers (EUT/KIP)
- EUT (horizontal, non-tipping) — the safety valve protects the vessel during aeration and pneumatic discharge; the temperature rating (150°C or 200°C) is selected according to the compressor circuit’s operating conditions.
- KIP (Kippsilo, tipping) — during pressure-assisted discharge with the tank raised hydraulically, the correct valve setting prevents the working pressure from being exceeded.

Common Faults on Feldbinder Silo Trailers
From our Feldbinder silo trailer service experience, the most frequent safety valve issues are:
- Leakage at closed position — worn Viton sealing or deposits on the seat; replace the valve with a new unit supplied with documentation.
- Sticking / seizure when the operating temperature is exceeded — selecting the correct version (150°C or 200°C) prevents seal degradation.
- Body corrosion in aggressive conditions — inspect the brass body condition; replace if material loss is found.
- Missing current documentation — a valve without a quality inspection certificate is a problem during the TDT inspection; we supply a full documentation pack with every unit.
- Incorrect set pressure after replacement — the set pressure must match the system’s working pressure; verified during service and TDT inspection.
We do not quote fabricated set-pressure values or service life figures — these depend on working pressure and operating conditions. Inspection and replacement are carried out as part of the silo trailer service.
