Introduction
The conveying hose is the component through which every tonne of a Feldbinder silo trailer’s payload physically passes. On horizontal EUT series trailers, the pneumatic hose carries granulate or bulk material from the discharge nozzles to the delivery point, while a separate compressor hose supplies compressed air from the compressor unit to the discharge line. On tipping silo trailers of the KIP (Kippsilo) series — where the tank is raised hydraulically and pneumatic discharge is further assisted by pressure — hoses operate under elevated working pressures and must withstand both abrasion and high compressor-air temperatures.
From a Feldbinder service perspective, hose selection always starts with the medium. Cement, sand or PE/PP granulate in an abrasive application requires a thick, antistatic wall; foodstuffs in food-grade EUT 316L variants require an FDA-approved hose; the hose between the compressor and the trailer requires the CONTI high-temperature design with steel helix. - Next-day direct delivery, DN25–DN110: Goodyear hot-air hoses (DN50–DN75, with or without helix), stainless steel 1.4571 compressor hoses (3" male BSP thread, DIN 2999, DN80, 10 mm wall, -269 °C to 600 °C, 25 bar, antistatic, lengths 1.8 m and 2.8 m), compressed-air hoses, water hoses and fire-fighting hoses.
Compatibility with Feldbinder silo trailers (EUT/KIP)
- EUT (horizontal, non-tipping) — black abrasion-resistant hose for PE/PP granulate and bulk materials; food-grade 316L stainless steel variants require a white FDA-approved hose. The CONTI compressor hose connects the compressor unit to the discharge line.
- KIP (Kippsilo, tipping) — with hydraulic tank lifting and pressure discharge, reinforced versions are recommended (11 mm wall, 12 bar) together with a compressor hose rated for the appropriate temperature range.
Hose selection is matched to the diameter of the existing Storz couplings and clamps on the specific trailer unit — when ordering, please state the DN size and the fitting type. Full catalogue: spare parts.
Common hose faults on Feldbinder silo trailers
From our Feldbinder service experience, the most frequent hose failures are:
- Wear-through of the inner layer in abrasion-resistant hoses — caused by granulate abrasion; symptoms are reduced throughput and risk of perforation. Solution: upgrade from standard wall (9 mm) to reinforced (11 mm).
- Loss of antistatic bonding — a damaged copper bonding wire creates a risk of static charge build-up; the hose must be replaced.
- Rubber hardening in cold conditions when operating outside the rated temperature range — select a hose with the appropriate range (e.g. CONTI rated to -40 °C).
- Material incompatibility with food-grade media — in food-grade EUT 316L variants, only an FDA-approved hose is permissible; a standard black hose is not acceptable in direct contact with foodstuffs.
- Damage to the steel reinforcing helix in compressor hoses — kinking restricts compressor airflow.
