Introduction
The pressure gauge is the instrument that a Feldbinder silo trailer mechanic and driver look at during every discharge operation. On EUT and KIP trailers, discharge is carried out under pressure — pneumatically on the EUT, and with additional pressure-assisted tipping on the KIP — and the gauge shows whether the system is operating within a safe and correct range. An inaccurate or unstable reading creates a risk of overpressure or inefficient discharge.
Glycerine-filled pressure gauges perform best in these conditions: the glycerine fill dampens pointer oscillation and pressure pulsation, providing a stable reading despite vehicle vibration and the pulsating action of the compressor. The stainless steel housing protects the instrument against corrosion and moisture in road-going conditions. From a Feldbinder service perspective, the pressure gauge is an item worth monitoring regularly and calibrating — an inaccurate instrument gives a misleading picture of discharge pressure.

Sizes and Types
- 63 mm dial — compact size, bottom or back entry; ranges 0–4, 0–6, 0–10, 0–25, and 0–250 bar.
- 100 mm dial — larger size, better readability, bottom or back entry; ranges 0–4, 0–6, and 0–10 bar.
- Measurement range — selected to suit the application; any other range available on request.
- Thread reducers/adapters — to match the gauge to the connection port.
Compatibility with Feldbinder Silo Trailers (EUT/KIP)
- EUT — the gauge monitors pressure during pneumatic discharge from the horizontal tank.
- KIP — pressure monitoring during pressure-assisted tipping discharge of the silo vessel.
The gauge is selected by measurement range, dial size (63/100 mm), and entry type for the specific Feldbinder trailer; a thread reducer is used where necessary.
Role in Feldbinder Silo Trailer Operations
A pressure gauge is not a part that is routinely replaced as a precaution — it is a monitoring instrument whose importance grows as the trailer ages. In Feldbinder service practice, there are three points at which the gauge matters:
- Daily discharge — the driver reads whether the system pressure is within the working range. A stable reading (thanks to the glycerine fill) makes it easy to spot any deviation quickly.
- Leak diagnostics — when discharge takes longer than usual, the gauge helps determine whether the issue lies with the pressure (leaking flange joints, end caps, Storz couplings) or with the material itself.
- TDT periodic inspections and overhauls — during a periodic pressure vessel inspection, the accuracy of the gauge reading matters; a calibrated gauge gives confidence that the reading reflects the actual pressure.

Common Issues
- Unstable reading — a gauge without glycerine fill fluctuates with vibration; the glycerine version stabilises the readings.
- Loss of accuracy — a worn mechanism gives incorrect readings; the solution is replacement or a calibrated gauge.
- Housing corrosion — in road-going conditions; a stainless housing minimises this problem.
- Mismatched connection thread — thread reducers and adapters are used to fit the gauge to the port.
