Feldbinder EUT — Horizontal Silo Trailer

The EUT line comprises non-tipping Feldbinder silo semi-trailers with horizontal tanks in stainless steel or aluminium. In food-grade versions, all product-contact components are certified to FDA / EC 1935/2004. Feldbinder’s range also includes the KIP (tipping silo), HEUT/HZEUT (drawbar trailers) and AUF (superstructures).

We supply: food-grade EPDM (standard), FDA silicone (preferred for sugar, flour, dairy powders), and PTFE (for high-temperature or chemically aggressive food products).

The Feldbinder EUT uses PTFE (Teflon) aeration pads — the highest material grade, fully food-grade compatible. Polypropylene (PP) pads are used in some generic configurations. Replacement interval: every 2–3 years depending on the material being transported. We carry the full range in stock.

No. The EUT is a non-tipping silo trailer — there is no hydraulic cylinder to tilt the tank (discharge is pneumatic only). The KIP (Kippsilo) is a tipping model with a pressurised silo: hydraulic cylinders tilt the tank to assist pneumatic discharge. Feldbinder (Winsen/Luhe, Germany) supplies some parts directly. Standard items (seals, pads, standard valves) arrive within 7–14 working days by courier. Non-standard items (special outlets, multi-compartment configurations) take 4–8 weeks. PHS Magnum has a direct line to the distributor and places consolidated orders — ask for a quote.

Material selection depends on the product being carried: EPDM for PE/PP granulates, bulk materials, and industrial products; FDA silicone for food-grade products (sugar, flour, powdered milk); PTFE for chemically aggressive or high-temperature food products. When ordering, specify the product being transported and the hatch diameter and type (typically DN500) — we will match the correct elastomer with the appropriate food-grade certification where required.

As a rule of thumb, every 2–3 years, but actual service life depends on the number of discharge cycles, aeration pressure, and the abrasiveness of the material. Signs that replacement is due include increasing discharge times and uneven fluidisation at the tank base. We hold the full pad range in stock — it is best practice to replace the complete set rather than individual pads, to ensure uniform aeration.

Routine replacement of wear seals (hatches, valves, pads) does not constitute a pressure-vessel repair and does not require a special TDT inspection. However, pressure and safety valves are subject to inspection and calibration at every TDT revision — plan their replacement to coincide with the revision cycle.
